Desert Queen

Desert Queen by Sarrah Wilkinson - A digital painting featuring a female rattlesnake naga and petroglyphs painted by her people on the desert rock formations.

I had originally intended to draw a mermaid. By the time I'd gotten to the point where her tail was curling around the rock, she had sort of morphed into an eel-like mermaid - but then ended up being a snake instead. Seeing as how I'd done a couple of oceanic pictures recently, a nice desert image was due anyway!

Her body is patterned off of a western diamondback rattlesnake, one of the species local to the area where I live - though it's pretty rare to see one unless you spend a lot of time in rural areas.
